Jayden Jones's Teacher
Jayden is a student in my AVID Scholar Athletes Class. Commitment to service, leadership, and character are all cornerstones of our program. Jayden has committed several hours of community service in his 3 years as my student. One of my favorite memories is Jayden, a few classmates, and I working together to make lunch bags for the less fortunate. Not only did we created over 100 lunch bags but Jayden and I personally delivered those bags in my car all over south Stockton. In my class we have adopted the mantra “Nobody Cares. Work Harder” and have read numerous books on resilience by authors such as Jocko Willink, Ryan Holiday, and Jim Afremow. It is my belief that Jayden has taken the lessons from these readings and has applied them to his life. But Jayden has been able to maintain his high grades during these challenging times. Jayden is one that leads by example. For example, Jayden has stayed committed to training during the pandemic for both basketball and football should those sports happen this school year. In his spare time, Jayden also stays busy by helping his father with work and undertaking landscaping projects at his home and other neighborhood homes. Jayden is definitely a role-model to classmates during these trying times. I wholeheartedly recommend Jayden Jones for the Brookside Optometric Group scholarship. He is a prime example of student that demonstrates excellence in his daily endeavors in-school, through distance learning, on the court or field, and in the community.
Jayden Jones's Coach
It is with great enthusiasm in which I recommend Jayden Jones. I have known Jayden for 4 years now as an athlete and student. In that time, he has become one of my favorite players and students of all time because of his unselfish attitude, leadership ability, and work ethic. He is one of the hardest workers in our basketball and football programs. He manages to balance rigorous courses (3.4 GPA, ranked 131th in his class of 532 students), AVID, basketball/football practice, and community service by giving great effort to all and skimping on none.
Around the Edison campus Jayden is a leader, and is liked and respected by all students and staff. When he asked me to write him a letter of recommendation, my response was, “Absolutely! Not a problem. Thank you for representing our school so well!”
I highly recommend Jayden Jones. It could not go to a better young man.
