Montserrat Tovar's Teacher
I would like to nominate Montserrat Tovar for the Brookside Optometric Scholarship. As her Spanish teacher in the International Baccalaureate Program, I have watched this young lady develop both academically and personally into a mature individual ready in every way for her college years.
Montserrat is bright, dedicated, a hard worker, compassionate and genuinely well rounded. Her grades have been consistently above average in all of her courses in the most rigorous program in the SUSD. She has actively participated in a diverse assortment of extracurricular activities ranging from track and field, volleyball, member of the Spanish Club for three years, Historian of Spanish Club, and she is currently the President for the Honors Society National Club.
Montserrat has also spent considerable time outside the school involved in the community. This has included feeding the homeless in Stockton, Ca. participated in various Awake-a-thons, and she also volunteered in beautifying parks in her city through Reinvent South Stockton Coalition, and has served in various crab feeds.
This young lady is a great role model to many of her classmates. She is a student that has demonstrated concern for her education and is a high achiever. She is a jewel to our school and to the city of Stockton.
Unlike many students who are not sure which field to pursue, Montserrat has made it clear to us that her goal is to major in psychology. Then go into occupational therapy and one day return to Stockton after college to continue serving her community.
As Montserrat's Franklin High Volleyball Coach, I strongly recommend Montserrat Tovar for the Brookside Optometry Scholarship. I have had the honor to be her volleyball coach for the past three years and to see her grow into the person she is now is amazing. Not just through her ability to understand the game, but mentally and physically change into a wonderful student/athlete.
Montserrat is definitely one of the hardest workers on and off the court. She shows up for practice way before the scheduled time to work on homework or to help others with their homework. Her work ethics on and off the court are spot on with her grades and all of the extra curricular activities that she does. On the court she analyzes the game well and encourages everyone to work together but most of all to have fun doing it.
Montserrat's work ethic is well noticed and her personal skills are above the rest. Her presence will be missed and she is and will always be a leader.
Montserrat deserves to be a recipient of the Brookside Optometry Scholarship.
I have the pleasure of being Montserrat’s godmother and I have seen her grow into a beautiful young lady. Montse is a bright, caring and responsible person. She is always willing to help in anyway she can. She knows how to manage her time well between her school work and her extra curricular activities. Montserrat has babysat my daughters and does a great job working with kids. My daughters look up to her and I think she is a great role model. Montserrat was raised by her single mom that has taught her great values and morals. I am proud to know Montse and she is definitely a great candidate for the Brookside Optometry scholarship.
